Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS)

The Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) was launched in 1950 by the Government of India to provide skilled workers for industries, enhance industrial production, and reduce youth unemployment through vocational training. ITIs under CTS shape craftsmen to meet current and future manpower needs across India. In 1956, ITI administration was handed over to State/UT governments, and from 1969, financial control was also transferred, with funding provided as bulk grants.
