Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS)
The Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) is one of India’s key vocational training programs, managed by the Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). Its primary goal is to equip young people with technical and practical skills, helping them secure employment in a wide range of industries.
Our Mission
At the heart of CTS is a simple yet powerful mission: to bridge the gap between education and employment. We focus on providing hands-on training that prepares trainees for real-world jobs, boosting both their employability and entrepreneurial potential. By offering industry-relevant skills, we aim to create a workforce that can meet the demands of a rapidly changing job market.
Key Features of the Craftsmen Training Scheme
- Training Institutes: Training is delivered through Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), which are spread across India. These institutes offer courses in trades like electrician, fitter, welder, machinist, and many more, providing specialized skills in each area.
- Practical Curriculum: Our curriculum is designed to meet industry needs, emphasizing practical, hands-on learning. Depending on the trade, courses range from one year to two years.
- National Certification: Trainees receive a National Trade Certificate (NTC), which is recognized nationwide by industries for employment, making it easier to find jobs.
- Workforce Development: The primary aim of CTS is to develop a skilled workforce for India’s manufacturing and service sectors. It also plays a vital role in reducing unemployment by empowering youth with marketable skills.
- Who We Serve: CTS is tailored for school dropouts, secondary school graduates, and anyone looking to develop technical skills for better job prospects.
- Job Opportunities: Trainees from CTS have a wide range of opportunities in both public and private sectors. Many choose to start their own businesses, while others may continue their education in technical fields.
