Introduction of the Institute with the Mission Statement and objective:

There are 11(eleven) ITIs in the state, 5(five) in the hill districts and 6(six) in the valley with a seating capacity of 2485 trainees in 26 different engineering and non-engineering trades which are affiliated to the NCVT & SCVT under CTS. The ITIs are under the administrative control of the Directorate of Craftsmen Training, Manipur located at the D.C. office Complex, Lamphelpat, Imphal under the supervision of Shri.P.Robindro Singh,Joint Director of Craftsmen Training Who is the Head of Department.

                The Govt. Industrial Institute (ITI) , Chandel is situated in the hill districts of Chandel district in kapaam Village along the National Highways No. 102 via Pallel –  Chandel road. The Chandel district lies in the south-eastern part of Manipur neighbouring Myanmar. The institute is located on the foothills of khongnempa of kapaam village and about 3 Kms. from the Pallel-Chandel road. The total distance from Imphal to the institute is about 60 Kms. and from the district headquater to the Institute is about 18 Kms. The Institute can be reach by MSRTC bus directly daily and local bus via Kakching and 1:30 hrs. Journey from Imphal, Komlathabi is a rural area  and a medium sized village of Chandel Sub- Division of Chandel District. The main occupation and religion of this village is agriculture and Christianity, main product is rice and maize. The govt. Industrial Training Institute(ITI) ,Chandel was established under PM’s Special Package Programme for “Establishment of ITIs in NE States and Sikkim” and strengthening of Existing ITIs” in North Eastern States and Sikkim, in the year 2003 with 100% funding by the GOI during the X- plan period to provide vocational/skill training to the unemployed youths in the district. The ITIs are the building blocks for vocational  training  and plays a vital roles in the economy by providing skilled manpower in different sectors with varying levels of expertise in the country. Initially, the Govt. ITIs ,Chandel was established with 8(eight) different trades by appointing different categories of staffs on contract basis. The first academic session was commenced during 2003-04 at the DRDA training hall located in the D.C. Office Compex,  Chandel with a seating capacity of 128 trainees but now it has been increased to 168 trainees.
