This Institute has been established in the year 1972 at Alungtang in a rented building. Now it stands at Kasomtang on its own building. Formerly there was only three trades

1. Wood Work Technician

2. Stenographer & Secretarial Assistant and

3. Wireman.

 At present there are 10 NCVT Trades in Ukrul ITI. The additional trades are

1. Electronics Mechanic

2. Information Communication Technology System Maintenance

3. Fitter

4. Welder

5. Cosmetology

6. Fruit and Vegetable Processor and

7. Mechanic (Motor Vehicle).

It has hostel facility with good play ground and indoor games. The institute is located at Kasomtang village P.O. Ukhrul P.S. Ukhrul. It is 84 KM away from Imphal the capital of the state Manipur. 

The Objectives and mission of setting up ITI Ukhrul is to develop and enhance the technical skills of the Trainees and utilize them in the best way to make a good career which will enable to solve the unemployment problem among youths.
