INTRODUCTION
There are 11 ITI’s in the state, five in the hill district and six in the valley with a seat capacity of 2485 trainees in 26 different engineering and non- engineering trades which are affiliated to the NCVT Under CTS. The ITI’s are under the administrative control of the Directorate of Craftsmen Training, Manipur located at the DC office Complex, Lamphelpat, Imphal under the supervision of Shri Yaiphaba Longjam, Joint Director of Craftsmen Training who is the Head of Department.
Government Industrial Training Institute, Senapati was initially established on 28th October,1974 at Tadubi with three trades namely Wireman, Stenographer and Building Construction under Craftsmen Training Scheme by the Govt. of Manipur with the objective to impart vocational/skill training to the educated unemployed youths in the district so that they may take recruitment to the services and posts of state/ Central and to the public/ private sector etc.and also to make themselves for self employment and to bring a better socio-economic condition in the district. However, in due course of time, trade- Building construction was abolished due to non availability of trainees and lack of demand. Later on the Institute was shifted to present location(Senapati Headquater) in view of the geographical convenience with greater scope for the availability of trainees. The institute was strengthened with two more trades carpenter and welder under PM’s Special programme for “Establishment and Strengthening of Existing ITI’s in North-East states & Sikkim” in the year 2023 with 100% funding by GOI during the x-plan period with the approval of state cabinet on December,2002.

Government Industrial Training Institute, Senapati is located at Senapati Head Quarter, Senapati District near new Senapati D.C Complex along the National Highway no. 2 and may be approached through 1km distance from the highway. The Institute is easily accessible by private vehicles etc.
Courses offered:
The Institute offers three engineering (wireman, welder and carpenter ) and one non-engineering (stenography) courses both in 1year and 2 year course with total intake capacity of 80 seats affiliated under National Council Vocational Training (NCVT). On successful completion of prescribed period of training , the trainees are awarded with Trade Certificate in the trades concerned which are recognized for reqruitment to the subordinate posts and services under state/ central Government for which a certificate in craftsmenship is prescribed as requisite qualification.
